1950年代後半のジャズには
問答無用で良いものがおおいので、
とりあえず購入してみた。
モノーラルだが、臨場感抜群。
（モノーラルでも空間の広がりを感じさせる盤が存在する。
それがなぜなのか、理由はわからない）
録音は、オーディオ的に飛びぬけて素晴らしいわけではなく、
もうちょっと低音が欲しい感じはあるものの
時代（今から50年前の収録）を考えれば、良好といって差し支えない。
演奏も、若々しく、熱気に満ちて
小細工のない屈託のないもので、楽しめる。

ブルタル・トゥルースのような大御所から
みたこともきいたこともないようなバンドまで
ごった煮状態でつめこまれている。
例の大型台風、カトリーナの直撃をくらい、
バンド活動の存続が危ぶまれることから、
この企画が発動されたらしい。
